Located in north west New Jersey, Worthington State Forest is comprised of more than 6,000 acres and offers various recreational activities. While camping along the scenic Delaware River is one of the most popular attractions, there are also several hikes within the park worth noting. The more than 26 miles of hiking trails include the hike to Sunfish Pond. One of New Jersey's 7 natural wonders millions of years in the making, the pond was carved out by glacial forces during the last ice age and is one of fourteen rock-basin lakes between the Delaware Water Gap and the end of Kittatinny Ridge. Visitors may also hike to the top of Mt. Tammany to experience a 360 degree view of "The Gap". |

Worthington State Forest offers 75 campsites accommodating a maximum of 6 people per site and 3 group sites with a maximum capacity of 35 people per site. Each campsite and group site offers a picnic table, fire ring, lantern holder and is within walking distance to showers and bathrooms. Dumpsters and recycling bins are located behind the park office for overnight users. Group sites have available food storage locker on site. A small picnic area is also available on a first come first served basis and offers picnic tables and charcoal grills. |

No Swimming on State Park Property. Please be alert Bears are in the area and all food, coolers and scented items should be secured in vehicles at all times. Garbage should be disposed of in the bear proof dumpsters located behind the main office. Pets are prohibited in camping areas. Alcoholic beverages are NOT permitted in any New Jersey State Park Service Area. Permit holders must be 18 years of age or older. Upon arrival please check in at the office. Check in is mandatory and must be done by the permit holder with ID. If you arrive after office hours you must check in the following morning between the hours of 9am and 10am. Quiet hours are observed from 10pm to 6am daily. |

Recreation opportunities are endless within the boundaries of Worthington, visitors may choose a day of birding, fishing, hunting, hiking, biking or taking a float down the picturesque Delaware River. Many visitors choose a day of hiking on our 26 miles of scenic trails including The Appalachian Trail. In addition to the Mt. Tammany and Sunfish Pond hikes, hikers may wish to pick up one of our self-guided brochures and explore the Rockores Trail. Worthington is also a popular destination for birders throughout the year; you may even witness the beauty of a bald eagle swooping down to catch its prey along the Delaware River. The park is also a well-known destination for participants in the world series of birding. Park visitors are welcome to bring their own canoes or kayaks to access the river or rent one from nearby liveries. Fishing is available anytime during the year off the banks of the Delaware. The river offers several species of fish including; Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, Channel Catfish and the spring run of American Shad is always a highlight to the fishing season at Worthington. |
